dried organic elderberries
mineral spring water
dried organic ginger
honey or maple syrup
raw apple cider vinegar
(optional to thicken syrup)
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer on low with a lid for 50 minutes.
If you want to thicken the syrup, add 1 teaspoon of arrowroot powder at the end of cooking and simmer for an additional five minutes, stirring the mixture continuously.
Remove from heat and cool for 20 minutes.
Once the mixture has cooled down, pour the syrup in a glass container and filter the berries using a mesh.
Crush the berries with a spoon to extract all the liquid from the elderberries.
Ensure the syrup is cold before closing the lid. Store in the refrigerator for up to one month.
